Metriaclima sp."zebra chilumba" is living in rocky environments between Ngara and Chirwa Island. This variety can be found near Maisoni Reef.

A few months ago (may 2008) we have bought eleven of these cichlids, four males and seven females. They were very young at that time, the males are at this moment (march 2009) at a size of about 13 cm, the females about 9 to 10 cm. We divided this group in two smaller groups from which one of them is since septembre 2008 in Thimo`s tank, one male with three females. The rest, three males and four females, are swimming in a large breeding tank.
One of the males is really leading and beatiful colouring, he is the most dominant of all at this moment and he is continuous trying to seduce a female, in the meantime we've got several times offspring of them. Against eachother they are a little intolerant, however it turns out better than we expected up till now, they are tolerant against the other inhabitants.

They are comfortable with any food, but because it is also a "Mbuna", they will mainly get feeding like spirulina or shrimp-peas mix.
