Pseudotropheus sp."acei" Luwala

Pseudotropheus sp."acei" is living in sandy environments with some spread boulders or tree stumps which lie in the water. This is a species with several color variants which can be found on different places in entire Lake malawi. This variant can be found near Luwala Reef.

In the lake the males of these species can grow to about 10 cm. In the aquarium however they can grow taller because of a good feeding. The males can then grow to about 16 cm, females grow to about 14 cm.

Pseudotropheus sp."acei" is one of the most peaceful cichlids of the lake, mutual and against other species they are very tolerant. They can be hold best with multiple females and other fish that live in the same environment, in a tank with enough swimming space and hiding places.

In the lake they are mainly feeding themselves with algae and invertebrates. In the aquarium they are comfortable with any food. They take everything they get offered, like spirulina pellets, mysis, artemia, cyclops and shrimp-peas mix. Food rich of algae like spirulina pellets or flakes is very important to them so this should not be missing on their menu.
